Phobias

Phobias are characterized by a persistent and irrational fear of a specific object, or situation that leads to a compelling desire to avoid it. These attacks may be confined to a period of several weeks or months or may become chronic. They involve sudden and intense fear that often is accompanied by chest pain, dizziness, sweating, faintness and trembling. Some people suffer few of these physical symptoms but feel more muscular tension and mental anxiety instead.

All these disorders often respond to treatments. That is why getting help is essential. Without treatment, the disorder can endure for the rest of your life. It is very important to recognize the disorder as fast as possible, because most of the people experience at least mild symptoms at some point in their lives. The causes of these disorders are not always clear. They appear to have no genetic basis. If you suffer from such a anxiety disorders you are aware how distressing is your behavior. Seek help and do not give up. It is not easy to overcome your fears, but at least you have to try. There are many modern methods and procedures that can help you to cope with them. Otherwise, you may suffer from the so called double anxiety- anxiety associated with the disorder itself and the anxiety of knowing that something is wrong.
